Volunteer Tutors Needed!

Work with Black students from Grade 6 – 12 for the 2020-2021 school year to close gaps,
increase academic success, and support learning with an equity mindset in an online format.
You will be provided with a tutoring structure by our Tutor Coordinator, along with learnings of
how to implement CRRP practices in tutoring sessions. You will be working with individual
Black students (Grade 9 or 10 secondary) or small groups of Black students (elementary) online
with their learning, assignments, answering subject-specific questions, and other such tasks
based on student requirements.


¦ Elementary – group sessions based on subjects (3 students in one group)
¦ Secondary – Semester 1 and Semester 2
? 1:1 sessions
? Matched on need and strenths of the tutor


Duties
? Participate in professional development and other such duties as directed by the Tutor
Coordinator
? Perform student diagnostic assessment and keep a record of student learning/progress
? Assist Black students with their academic progress in an online format
? Provide sessions up to a maximum of 3 hours per week
? Define next steps for students based on their progress
? Communicate student progress with parent/guardian


Qualifications
? French Immersion an asset
? Experience with learning online
? Proficiency in Google Suite (Jamboard, Google classroom); training will be provided
? Able to assist students in all subject areas with preference to French, English,
Mathematics, and Science
